Animal Attendant/Groundskeeper Full-time
Phillip Island Wildlife Park (Cowes, Victoria)
Hours are between 9 a.m.-5.30 p.m. Fri-Tues.
Full-time, long term position available. Duties include animal feeding, general park maintenance, grass mowing etc.
Must have farm or similar experience. Personal bird/reptile keeping experience and a keen interest in different species a distinct advantage.
Experience with weed/pest control, chainsaw & tractor operation desirable.
Position involves manual labour working outside in all weather & heavy lifting daily, so requires physical fitness. Suited to someone who is practical and hands on.
Duties vary daily and involve animal feeding(inc. venomous reptiles), animal feed preparation (inc. meat), cleaning, mulching, raking, unloading deliveries, maintenance and repairs, basic carpentry/plumbing, mowing etc.
Key Essential Criteria:

Previous farm or similar experience

Personal bird keeping

Personal reptile keeping (or willingness to learn)

General animal husbandry

Interest in Australian wildlife & ability to identify different species

Chainsaw/brush cutter competency

The advertised position is a full-time permanent role from Friday-Tuesday (days off Wednesday/Thursday). Please consider if working on weekends year round will fit your lifestyle. Seeking applicants that wish to gain stable long term employment. Duties include ticket/souvenir sales, facilities cleaning (sweeping, mopping, windows, bathrooms, raking, staff lunchroom), litter removal, re-stocking shelves, pricing stock, customer enquires, maintaining storeroom, weeding & mulching garden beds.
